If you're looking to study in Asia, there's no better place than the National University of Singapore (NUS). Founded in 1905, NUS has consistently been ranked as one of the top universities in the world. Moreover, if you're planning to be a part of the NUS community, let's find out some attractive NUS scholarships for your undergraduate study!

NUS Scholarship #1: ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship (AUS)

The first NUS scholarship is the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship. NUS offers a full-tuition for citizens or permanent residents from the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), excluding Singapore. Furthermore, students from ASEAN countries such as Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam can sign up to apply for this scholarship. 

For the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship (AUS), a separate scholarship application is not required. Also, all eligible students applying for undergraduate admission to NUS will be automatically considered for the scholarship. 

What does the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship (AUS) cover? 

  • Tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant Subsidy)
  • S$5,800 annual living allowance
  • S$1,750 one-time computer allowance 
  • S$3,000 annual accommodation allowance

The requirements to be eligible for the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship (AUS) includes:

  • A citizen of an ASEAN member country, excluding Singapore.
  • Possess strong leadership qualities and potential.
  • Demonstrate good co-curricular activities record.
  • Exhibit outstanding academic performance in high school. 
  • Applying for admission to a full-time undergraduate degree programme at NUS.

NUS Scholarship #2: Science & Technology (S&T) Undergraduate Scholarship

Another NUS scholarship is the Science & Technology (S&T) Undergraduate Scholarship, which is offered by NUS to outstanding Asian students (excluding Singapore). 

For the Science & Technology (S&T) Undergraduate Scholarship, a separate scholarship application is not required. Moreover, all eligible and outstanding applicants of Asian nationalities will be automatically considered for the scholarship based on their applications. Furthermore, shortlisted applicants will be notified via email of a scholarship interview by June, the year of admission.

What does the Science & Technology (S&T) Undergraduate Scholarship cover? 

  • Tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant Subsidy) and compulsory fees
  • S$6,000 annual living allowance
  • S$1,750 one-time computer allowance 
  • S$200 one-time settling-in allowance
  • Annual accommodation allowance 
  • One-way air passage from home country to Singapore at the beginning of the course of study, and return air passage from Singapore to home country at the end of the course

The requirements to be eligible for the Science & Technology (S&T) Undergraduate Scholarship includes:

  • A citizen of an Asian country, excluding Singapore.
  • Possess strong leadership qualities and potential.
  • Demonstrate good co-curricular activity records.
  • Exhibit outstanding academic performance in high school. 
  • Applying for admission to a full-time undergraduate degree program in Computing, Engineering, or Science (excluding Environmental Studies and Pharmacy) at NUS.

NUS Scholarship #3: Dr. Goh Keng Swee Scholarship

The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) offers a great scholarship for NUS students, which is the Dr. Goh Keng Swee Scholarship. Moreover, 3 or 4 scholarships are offered to outstanding individuals from 15 Asia Pacific* countries every year to pursue their undergraduate study at a local university in Singapore (including NUS, NTU, SMU, and SUTD). 

*: Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar

What does the Dr. Goh Keng Swee Scholarship cover? 

  • Tuition and other compulsory fees (maximum of 4 years of undergraduate study).
  • Airfare (to Singapore and return to home country upon completion of study).
  • S$6500 annual maintenance allowance. 
  • Accommodation allowance based on the institution of study.
  • S$200 one-time settling-in allowance upon arrival in Singapore.

The requirements to be eligible for the Dr. Goh Keng Swee Scholarship includes:

  • Citizens/passport holders of Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar
  • Met the necessary university admission requirements are met (inclusive of sitting for any required university entrance examinations)
  • Concurrently applying for admission to NUS, NTU, SMU, or SUTD. Moreover, the grant will consider most courses (except for specialized courses like Medicine). 
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and possess good academic and co-curricular activities (CCA) achievements
  • Have taken the SAT or made arrangements to take the SAT

Dr. Goh Keng Swee Scholarship Bond

Successful candidates will be required to work for 3 years upon the completion of their studies in either:

  • An approved company in Singapore 
  • An approved Singapore-based company in their home country
