University of Toronto

Established in 1827 as King's College, the University of Toronto is the first institution of higher education in Upper Canada. The university, which offers over 700 undergraduate programs and 200 graduate programs, is a group of eleven colleges. It has three campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. 

University of Toronto Acceptance Rate

The University of Toronto's acceptance rate is about 43%, making it a moderately competitive school. 

Toronto is one of the most diverse cities in the world, and the University of Toronto is a reflection of this with its student body of more than 97,066 students enrolled in their programs. While 21,484 are graduate students, 75,582 are enrolled in undergraduate programs. Currently, the University of Toronto has more than 20,000 international students coming from 170 countries and regions. 

Applying to the University of Toronto

You will need to submit your application to the University of Toronto through the Ontario Universities Application Center (OUAC) system. Furthermore, the OUAC is a centralized application system for all undergraduate and graduate programs at each Ontario university. 

The undergraduate application fee for the University of Toronto is $180. Here are several documents that you'll need to submit for your application:

  • High school transcripts 
  • English language proficiency test results 
  • Standardized test results
  • Self-reported grades form

University of Toronto Scholarship #1: President's Scholars of Excellence Program

Every year, about 150 of the top applicants for direct-entry undergraduate studies will be distinguished as the President's Scholars of Excellence. This merit-based scholarship program applies to both domestic and international students. Moreover, no additional application is required and applicants with outstanding performance will be automatically considered for the scholarship.

What the President's Scholars of Excellence Program cover:

  • A non-renewable $10,000 entrance scholarship
  • Access to part-time on-campus employment in the second year
  • Access to an international learning opportunity

You must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible for the President's Scholars of Excellence Program:

  • Applying to the first year of direct-entry undergraduate studies 
  • Possess outstanding performance in high school
