Study in Europe

1. London

London has the highest number of universities of any city in the UK, and three of them are among the top 50 in the world. There are a total of 18 universities affiliated with the University of London, making it the place with the most university students in the UK. London is incredibly diverse, with people and students from all around the world. This means if you're missing home, you're likely to find others who share your culture and even your favorite foods from back home.

The city is famous for its amazing museums, like the Natural History Museum, the British Museum, the Imperial War Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The great news is that these museums don't charge an entry fee, so even if you're on a tight budget as a student, you can still enjoy and learn from them.

Moreover, London is a major center in Europe and the world for various industries, especially finance. Big banks like Barclays and the Bank of England have their main offices in an area called the City of London. London is also highly regarded by employers, coming fourth in the world for the number of job opportunities available. This shows how much companies want to hire graduates from London universities. Plus, many huge international companies like Google, Amazon, and Unilever recruit new talent right from London.

2. Munich

The third-largest city in Germany, Munich, which is situated in Bavaria, offers students a comfortable lifestyle without breaking the bank. While the cost of living might appear higher compared to other major global cities, it's well-matched with the quality of life. This is evident in its impressive ranking of 12th in the world for desirability. Munich provides excellent infrastructure, convenient transportation, and top-quality education, making it an unsurprising choice as one of this year's prime study destinations.

Munich is an incredibly exciting city for students. Each year, more than 17,400 international applicants, making up a quarter of all students, flock to Bavaria to kick-start their educational journey. Whether pursuing undergraduate degrees or engaging in Erasmus and exchange programs, this diverse influx of students contributes to Munich's vibrant atmosphere. The city scores highly for its diverse student population, where an open-minded environment celebrates various cultures throughout.

3. Zurich

In this year's QS World University Rankings, two universities in Zurich have made the cut. The standout among these is ETH Zurich, which shares the eighth spot globally. Zurich excels particularly in terms of how attractive it is to students and how affordable it is, but it also garners impressive scores in all the categories that make up the QS Best Student Cities rankings.

Even though Zurich places 81st for affordability this year, its high cost of living is balanced out by its relatively low tuition fees. The city secures a place in the top five for its desirability, ranking fourth worldwide. Zurich is known as Switzerland's economic powerhouse, boasting one of the nation's biggest financial sectors. This translates to a wealth of job opportunities for graduates in fields like banking, accounting, tax consulting, business advising, and wealth management.

4. Berlin

Berlin's universities have made a mark in the latest QS World Universities rankings, with three of them being recognized, including Freie Universität Berlin, placed at 118th globally. This year, Berlin shines especially bright in the eyes of students, earning a spot among the top five globally in the student view category.

Having blossomed into one of the world's trendiest urban hubs – a central hub for design, fashion, music, and art that can rival even the likes of New York or London – Berlin offers an unbeatable blend of culture along with a thriving financial scene. This makes it a fantastic fit for history enthusiasts and art lovers, just as much as for aspiring financial professionals.

Students hailing from non-EU and non-EEA countries, who possess a residence permit, have the opportunity to extend it for an additional 18 months after graduating. This extension allows them to seek employment in Germany. Graduates in Berlin enjoy promising job prospects. The most sought-after roles include healthcare practitioners, engineers, and IT specialists. As a result, Berlin secures a joint 16th spot in the employer activity category.

5. Paris

The beautiful city of Paris maintains its strong position in this year's QS Best Student Cities ranking, securing a spot within the top 10. It stands as a crucial hub for global education and houses nine universities that are highlighted in the QS World University Rankings. Distinguished universities and specialized institutions like ENS Paris, École Polytechnique ParisTech, Sciences Po Paris, and HEC Paris have played a significant role in producing influential philosophers, theorists, scientists, politicians, business leaders, and mathematicians over the past century. Additionally, these institutions have contributed to groundbreaking movements in literature, film, and art.

In the present day, graduates from Paris find themselves in high demand among employers spanning the continent. This is evident in the city's impressive ranking for employer activity, securing the seventh position globally. Furthermore, Paris boasts a multitude of international companies situated in its business district, La Défense. Renowned names like L’Oréal, Google, Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, and Nestlé have established offices there, and these companies are consistently on the lookout for fresh graduates to join their teams.
