UC stands for University of California. Moreover, the private College of California was first established in Oakland in 1855 and serves as the foundation of the institution. Then, the university moved to Berkeley in 1873 after merging in 1868 with the Agricultural, Mining, and Mechanical Arts College, which was a land-grant institution in 1866. Over time, additional schools joined the system. The system is now run by a 26-member board of regents, and it has about 300,000 students enrolled in it overall.
There are around 45,000 students study at campus in Berkeley. More than 350 degree programs are available by its 15 schools and colleges, which include ones for optometry, public health, social welfare, public policy, natural resources, media, and environmental design.

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is a public research university in Los Angeles, California. Moreover, founded in 1919 as the second-oldest of the University of California system, UCLA initially served the purpose of training teachers through a two-year undergraduate program.
UCLA is made up of the College of Letters and Science and 12 professional schools that spread across Los Angeles. It is home to highly-reputable faculty, with more than 230 undergraduate and graduate majors offered. Until now, UCLA has affiliation with 27 Nobel laureates, 5 Turing Award winners, and 3 Pulitzer Prize winners.
According to the latest QS World University Rankings, UCLA is ranked 5th nationally and 40th in the world. Moreover, in the latest US News University Rankings, UCLA is ranked as the 14th best university globally and 20th best university nationally.

UC Davis, the seventh campus of the 10 campuses of the University of California, is located in the city of Davis, close to the Northern California region. It was first founded as an agricultural branch of the university system in 1905 before it became one of the ten campuses of the University of California 54 years later in 1959.
Around the 19th century, Eugene W. Hilgard, a German-American professor of agriculture, recognized that UC Berkeley's soil and climate were terrible for farming. Moreover, at the turn of the 20th century, Peter J Shields, the secretary of the California Agricultural Society, proposed the idea of a university farm. Later, he was honored as the “founder” of UC Davis in 1962.
The university has around 100 undergraduate majors and graduate programs respectively. Among them, UC Davis is famous for its outstanding biological and agricultural sciences programs, such as its top-rated Agricultural and Resource Economics programs and the large Department of Animal Science.

This university was one of the many University of California campuses that did not get its name from the city in which it was located. Moreover, UC Irvine got its name from the Irvine family, who founded the Irvine Company. The land that belong to the Irvine Company was then sold to the University of California. The city of Irvine was then established in 1975.
The first schools built at UC Irvine include a College of Arts, Letters, and Science, a School of Engineering, and a Graduate School of Administration. Moreover, in 1967, the California College of Medicine, which was originally a school with dedication in studying osteopathic medicine, became a part of the university. 9 years later UC Irvine purchased the Orange County Medical Center, now named the UC Irvine Medical Center, which became a large teaching hospital in Orange County.
UC Irvine offers almost 200 undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. Also, it is classified as a research university in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The university was in 4th position in the world and 1st in the US in 2012 among universities that have been around for less than 50 years.
The university is the third most selective UC School and has a 26% acceptance rate as of the fall of 2019. Moreover, the average SAT scores of freshmen who enrolled were around 600-720 for reading and writing and 650-790 for math. Meanwhile, the average score on the ACT was around 26. Most of the first-year students who enrolled in 2018 were mainly from California Counties such as Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Diego County, and the Bay Area Counties.
