As America's first university, the University of Pennsylvania, is more commonly referred to as UPenn or Penn. Moreover, it was founded in 1740 by Benjamin Franklin, the school's first president. It was one of the nine colonial colleges established before the United States Declaration of Independence and has since grown to be a premier hub for higher education and research in the country.

Perelman School of Medicine

The Perelman School of Medicine, which was America's first medical school, has a distinguished history of research, education, and innovation. School of Arts & Sciences

The School of Arts and Sciences (commonly known as SAS), which comprises the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, nearly make up half of UPenn's student body. Along with its 27 departments, the school also boasts 400 faculty members who have won awards including the Nobel Prize, the Pulitzer Prize, and the MacArthur Fellowship.
