5 Essay Writing Steps for Beginner
Writing Essay can be overwhelming as you need to cover your whole argument in one go. These essay writing steps can guide you through creating the best essay that suits your needs, whether it is an essay homework, dissertation, or even a thesis.
Some people can just sit in the corner of the room and start writing their essays quickly. On the contrary, a beginner might get confused about where to start and what to do. You can follow these steps to keep you organized and arranged as you write your essay.
Decide the types of essays.
The first thing you can do is decide what kind of essay you are going to write. There are a lot of types which you can choose from:
1. Narrative Essay
A narrative essay tells a story and imparts knowledge about a subject to the reader in a clear, ordered manner, similar to how a story is told.
2. Persuasive Essay
A persuasive essay or argumentative essay is an essay in which you use logic and reason to demonstrate that your point of view is more valid than others. You must present clear arguments and back them up with convincing facts and logic.
3. Expository Essay
This essay style demands you to research an idea, analyze evidence, elaborate on the concept, and present a clear and concise argument about the topic.
4. Descriptive Essay
This type of essay describes the subject to the reader in-depth. The purpose of this type of essay is to provide sufficiently specific descriptions for readers to visualize or imagine the chosen topic.
Research the topic.
The second thing that you need to do is research your topic. The topic is the root of your essay. You can not write anything if you do not have any topic in the first place. Sit and write down any topic which comes up in your mind. Once you write it all down, you can narrow it down and choose the best one.
Develop the main point
The next phase is developing your main point or thesis statement. In this phase, you decide the basic premise of your essay. For example, the thesis statement might be “Electric is better than Gas.” Then, your whole essay is going to revolve around this idea. Make sure your thesis statement is general or broad enough to have more things to write.
Start writing
Begin by writing a thesis statement at the start of your writing, then a topic phrase for each paragraph preceding it. Creating these outlines implies that you should exactly know what each of your paragraphs will be about before writing. Make sure there are transitions between paragraphs so the reader can follow the writing flow from one idea to the next.
Proofread the essay
Lastly, you need to proofread the essay. Look thoroughly for any mistakes and typos! Check for any grammatical or spelling errors in your paper and revise it accordingly.
Follow these essay writing steps correctly to get a clear and perfect essay.
