The US university acceptance rate has been a very controversial topic for many years. Famous universities are targeted by everyone, but the reality is that only the best candidates can attend. There are a limited number of spots open at the best universities. So, it is really difficult for students to get into these universities.
The US has a lot of great universities to which you can apply to. But you need to pay attention to the acceptance rates of each university. As you may already know, applying to university can be tricky. There are a lot of factors that contribute to your success rate.

Harvard is a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based private Ivy League research university. It is the oldest school of higher learning in the United States and one of the most famous in the world, having been founded in 1636 and named for its first benefactor, the Puritan preacher John Harvard.
Harvard University admissions are extremely selective, with a 5% acceptance rate and a 13.9% early acceptance rate. Half of the Harvard University candidates had an SAT score of 1460 to 1580 or an ACT score of 33 to 35. However, one-fourth of approved applicants received scores that were higher than these ranges, while the other quarter received scores that were lower. If you want to apply to this university, the application deadline is January 1st, and the application fee is $75.

New York University is a New York City-based private research university. The university was formed by a group of New Yorkers led by then-Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin and was chartered by the New York State Legislature in 1831.
NYU officially notified applicants to NYU's Class of 2025 of their acceptance decision, following a year in which 100,00 students are accepted on its campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai (an increase of 15,000 applicants from the previous year). NYU's Class of 2025 includes students from 102 countries, all 50 states, and the District of Columbia.

As the name suggests, the University of California is located in Los Angeles. You are probably already aware of California from multiple references like music or movies. UCLA's academic roots date back to 1882 when it was founded as a teachers' college known as the southern branch of the California State Normal School.
UCLA's acceptance rate is usually about 14%. However, only 15,028 students got accepted into the Class of 2025 from a total of 139,490 applicants. This brings the UCLA acceptance rate for the 2021/2022 admission cycle to only 11%.
However, you should know that the UCLA acceptance rate depends on the number of applicants for each incoming class. That means that, while the number of accepted students may remain constant over time, the acceptance rate will vary based on the number of applicants.

MIT has always been a top university in the world, so it's no surprise that the admissions process has gotten more competitive.
For the class of 2025, the MIT acceptance rate has dropped to only 4%. That means for every 100 applicants, only 4 will gain admission to the university. For international students, from 9,165 that applied to MIT, only 123 students are accepted, which means the acceptance rate is 1.34%.
