Tokyo University Ranking

The University of Tokyo, commonly known as "Todai," has consistently earned a place among the world's top universities, according to various ranking organizations. In the 2022 edition of the QS World University Rankings, the university was ranked 23rd, making it one of the highest-ranked universities in Asia. It also earned the 7th spot in the world for physics. 

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings also recognized the University of Tokyo as a top institution, placing it at 36th. The university was specifically recognized for its excellence in engineering and technology, physical sciences, and life sciences.

Similarly, the Academic Ranking of World Universities, also known as the Shanghai Ranking, placed the University of Tokyo at 20th in 2021. The university was particularly noted for its excellence in natural sciences and mathematics, as well as engineering/technology and computer sciences.

The US News & World Report's Best Global Universities Rankings for 2022 further cemented the University of Tokyo's reputation, ranking it 16th. The university was also ranked 6th in the world for physics, 8th in the world for engineering, and 12th in the world for materials science.
