Applying to the University of Toronto

For your university application to the University of Toronto, you will need to submit it through the Ontario Universities Application Center (OUAC) system. Moreover, the OUAC is a centralized application system for all undergraduate and graduate programs at each Ontario university. 

The undergraduate application fee for the University of Toronto is $180. Here are several documents that you'll need to submit for your application:

  • High school transcripts 
  • English language proficiency test results 
  • Standardized test results
  • Self-reported grades form
  • Personal statements or essays 

Minimum English Score Required 

As English is the language of instruction and examination at the University of Toronto, you will be required to submit proof of English proficiency. Furthermore, here are several English proficiency tests that are accepted, along with the minimum scores required:

International Baccalaureate Diploma Grade 4 in Higher or Standard Level English A: Literature or English A: Language and Literature. 
HL English B is not acceptable. 
GCSE / IGCSE Grade B (6) in GCSE/IGCSE/GCE Ordinary Level English, English Language, or English as a Second Language
AS/A levels  Grade C in GCE A Level/AS Level/AICE English or English Language
IELTS 6.5 in the overall band, with no band below 6.0
IELTS Indicator test is not accepted 
TOEFL  Internet-based Test (including Home Edition):Minimum Requirement: total score of 100 + 22 on WritingDiscretionary Range: total score 89-99 + 22 on Writing
Duolingo English Test Overall score of 120
Cambridge Assessment English C1: Advanced or C2: Proficiency Overall score of 180, with at least 170 in each component
